When an existing heating system needs to be replaced or a new site requires its own heat production solution, heat produced from wood chips or other biomass can be a cost-effective alternative.
Founded in Germany in 1982, Heizomat has been developing solutions particularly for wood chip heating for more than 40 years. Heizomat wood chip boilers are designed for efficient and reliable heat production. The system handles fuel feeding, combustion control and boiler cleaning with a high degree of automation.
There are more than 400 Heizomat reference installations across Finland.

We design each Heizomat heating system according to the specific requirements and characteristics of the site.
The goal is to create a practical and reliable overall solution. In addition to heat production, we consider wood chip logistics, fuel storage and ease of operation. A well-designed system reduces unnecessary manual work and fuel handling while making everyday heating operations smoother.
When needed, we can support the project through its different stages, from planning to implementation. The aim is that the customer does not have to manage every aspect of the project alone.
Wood chips can be transferred from storage to the boiler using different discharge and conveying systems. If required, multiple boilers can be integrated into the same heating system, providing flexibility in system sizing and allowing the installation to be expanded in stages.

What types of sites are wood chip boilers suitable for?
Heizomat wood chip boilers are suitable for sites where wood chips or other suitable biomass can be used for heat production, either from the customer’s own operations or through an established fuel supply chain.
Depending on the boiler model, Heizomat boilers can use wood chips, pellets and other biomass fuels. The appropriate fuel and its characteristics are taken into account when sizing the system.
Wood chip heating for farms and rural businesses
On farms, one of the advantages of wood chip heating can be the ability to use wood chips produced on the farm or sourced locally.
Heizomat wood chip boilers and discharge systems can be sized for applications such as production buildings, halls, dryers and other heated buildings.
Wood chip heating for properties and groups of buildings
A centralised heating system can supply heat to a single property or to a group of several buildings.
The site’s energy demand, existing heating system, fuel availability and storage possibilities are key factors when determining the appropriate system size.
Wood chip boilers for industry
In industrial and commercial applications, biomass can be used for heat production, particularly where production processes or buildings require significant amounts of thermal energy.
The largest Heizomat RHK-AK boilers provide up to 990 kW of thermal output, making them suitable for larger heating plant installations as well.
The first Heizomat wood chip boilers in Finland were commissioned in 2004.
Greater energy self-sufficiency with wood chip heating
Using your own or locally sourced wood chips can reduce dependence on purchased energy and increase self-sufficiency in heat production.
Factors considered when selecting the appropriate solution include:

Heizomat Finland – imported and supplied by Volter
The cooperation between Heizomat and Volter began in 2011, when Heizomat articulated-arm discharge systems were introduced into Volter’s CHP power plants. This marked the beginning of a partnership that continues today.
In 2025, the Heizomat owner family became the majority shareholder of Volter, and at the beginning of 2026, the import and representation of Heizomat wood chip boilers and chippers in Finland were transferred to Volter.
More than 15 years of cooperation has therefore entered a new phase.
